Description of new work
I grew up on the plains of West Texas as did my parents before me. I wanted to capture the feel of that vast, flat and enigmatic country before and during World Ware II just after the ranch land had been plowed up for farms, a time barely on the edge of my own memory. I wanted to tell the story of the kind of women I grew up with who faced hardship and tragedy with a toughness no man could match. I told that story in Inherited Sins
